Personal Updates 101: Manresa Days
Ayo, wassup?
It's been a long while since I last blogged something about myself. God has been so good to me this year really, and I'm so grateful to Him for that. So, I just want to share the things that have happened to me in the first semester in the school-year 2014-2015.
I guess most of you don't have an idea with what course I'm taking up in college right now, well, I'm an Agriculture student and will be majoring Animal Science in my third year. This semester was really a blast to me because I made friends with all of my classmates from two of the classes I belonged to. It was hard for me at first because since I am a shiftee, although this is my second semester in the College of Agriculture, I still had a difficulty in adjusting to this new environment. But, voila! they were so friendly to me!
There's this Manresa Days which is an annual celebration of the college; a tradition opening Manresa Farm to the public to showcase its products, services, programs, and everything about the college. The main event of this whole thing is the Rodeo. Rodeo is a competitive sport wherein you showcase what you have learned about cattle herding. Guess what? I was one of the players in the class! I and my participating classmates were under the basics wherein we competed with our schoolmates in the same college.
But hey, can you imagine that? This was my first time and I really can't believe it!!! Even until now I can still remember how I felt as I got to get inside the fences to strangle a cattle with my lasso and struck and tied it down. There was a category called "One-woman Lassoing" wherein I had to catch a cattle with my lasso and tie the lasso to the nearest post. But unfortunately, I wasn't able to catch it. There were also team categories such as the "4-Woman Casting Down", which we failed to finish by not being able to tie the cattle's feet within the time limit. Well, it sucked. But anyway, we did great at the another team category called "4-Woman Carambola" wherein lasso isn't needed, meaning, we had to catch the cattle with our hands and do the thing (if you don't what I mean, search about the proper way to handle a cattle ;) )
It was really an unforgettable experience since it was my first time, and not to mention, I have gotten myself a rope burn and it was not cool, I'm telling you.
Here are some of the pictures of me and my teammates during the Rodeo event:
