CEBU ESCAPADE 2017
Hola mi amigos y amigas!
Day 2
October 18, Wednesday
I was just in the boarding house the whole morning until almost 3:00pm. At around 2:00pm, my friend, a guy, called me on the phone and told me about his break-up with his girlfriend. It took us almost an hour of talking; he sounded horrible and awful, I felt sorry for him I even cried while we were talking. Of course I tried not to make it audible over the phone. That long conversation made me left the boarding house a bit later. I got out the room past 3. I rode a jeepney (it was actually a multicab but they call it jeepney) going to Ayala Cebu. I slept almost the whole time, like I was not afraid getting lost (haha!), good thing I didn't. In Ayala, I found out there was some kind of a trade fair of local handmade products. I don't know if they're seasonal but they were just right there the whole time that I was in Cebu. I bought this cute little puso keychain (diamond shaped coco leaves with cooked rice inside it, usually seen in the streets along with street foods #onlyinthePhilipines) for 20 pesos only.
After a little strolling and waiting, my brother finally arrived and we ate at Greenwich since I hadn't eaten any meal that day yet. I ordered my fave, of course. Yummy. After then, we went to McDo 'cause bro craved for a mcflurry. Then back to strolling again, until finally meeting Karen, bro's elementary classmate who's also a friend of mine. So, we went to Happy Lemon and ordered milk tea. Bro and I took time at choosing which flavor to buy because we were not used to their menu; comparing the menu to Chingkeetea's which is in Cagayan de Oro, our hometown. Ended up ordering a rare one (I even forgot what it was, I'm so sorry).
Let me share to you the things that I did in Cebu for 11 days. By the way, everything encoded in here were things I wrote in the small notebook given to me by my best friend Jewel on my birthday 2 years ago. I'll be putting some pictures just to share to you the things I did and the places I went to.
Day 1
October 17, Tuesday
Arrived in Cebu Port at around 8:30am. I went to Travelers' Lounge (SM City Cebu) to check-in my baggage. Then I waited for the mall to open (they will open the doors at 10:00am). I went to McDonalds to eat my supposedly brunch. I was about to order 1pc chicken + BMO happy meal for Tan but then they ran out of stock, so I ordered ala king instead, plus a coffee (yay!). I went to Kultura since I like buying handicrafts. There I bought myself a pair of earrings (dark green?). Then my cousin Bebsy and I met there. Bebsy and I were about to go to Starbucks where we will meet my brother and I'll have my phone charged there, but then we saw my auntie--Bebsy's mother--and her friend at Pizza Hut. They called us and told us to eat with them. We ate pizzas and spaghetti! (yum!) So we continued strolling inside the mall. Finally, we went to Starbucks already and met bro. I ordered a Teavana Hibiscus for the first time and received a long receipt, a rare one said the barista; it means I'll have a free cup to be purchased within 2 weeks! Awesome!

Day 3
October 19, Thursday
Again, I just at bro's boarding house the whole morning til almost 4:00pm. I and Bench planned to meet later in the evening because I had to hand him over the gift I was going to give to a family dear to me who lives in Masbate, Bench's hometown also. So, I decided to just walk around Talamban street since, based on Google Maps, there are lots of nice spots to visit to in the street alone. (I tell you, there are LOTS of great places to go to in Cebu even those that are just walking distance from where you're staying!) Also in the same street is where Bench's school is located, which means if he changes his mind and meet me earlier that the planned time, it would be just convenient for both of us.
So, my feet brought me to this place called Rosedale (it has food stalls and idk what else) which my friend happened to suggest I should dine in one of its stalls there, it's called Garlic Rice; she also recommended me to try their cheese krainer, and so I did. It tasted just fine naman. After eating, I continued walking down the street to look for another place to go. Then I passed by University of San Carlos Talamban Campus (where Bench studies. Well I always mention Bench's name since I already set him as an example to today's journey. Haha!). Looking from outside, I can say the school looked nice. I wonder how it looks like inside though.
I continued walking. I saw some coffee shops and milk tea shops just near the institution I just mentioned. I noticed students inside the shops so I opted not to go there 'cause I prefer places that are not that crowded and noisy. Then I found this coffee shop called D-SOUL CAFE and I went in. They sell coffees, smoothies/frappes, fruit juice, and also Korean food. I think the cafe just opened not so long ago because of its ambiance. I'm not so sure but I can just say so.
Just a quick realization:
If lately you've been drinking black coffee with just little amount of sugar and creamer, and then you switch to drinking mocha flavored coffee, you realize mocha does taste too sweet. I think I already got used to coffee that has just enough sweetness in it. I was kind of sad for my old preference that was mocha. But somehow this is something to ponder about coffee, right? *I like how I'm having thoughts like this about coffee*
Finally, Bench and I saw each other just outside Mini Stop convenience store, which is just near the boarding house. Then I handed him the gift box. We had a little catching up. It was nice seeing him though. Also, it was great having a conversation to a Masbateno who talks in clear Cebuano! Finally, no more nosebleed and trying-hard tagalog speaking! Haha!
